Director's Statement

We've all done it!

That back-and-forth roller coaster relationship can cause us to question our judgment, and even sometimes, our morals. Nonetheless, there’s something extraordinary about the connection with that special person that draws us back, even though we’ve sworn we’ll never go there again…then, we do.

This is the story of Michael and Monica, two former lovers who get caught up in the moment and end up spending a “steamy” evening together. Matters become complicated when an assuming mother and a gabby friend make their own assumptions about Michael and Monica’s relationship. Toss in the upcoming Holiday Season and the mix gets a little more twisted. What will they do?

I wanted to make a film that was warm, cute and fun. I also wanted it to be positive to the African-American image. I’m confident I’ve done that with “22 Days.”     -- Michael D. Blackman 

Marc Anthony Samuel plays Michael in the film. His television and film credits include co-starring roles on Criminal Minds, JAG and In Justice. He has performed in the theatrical productions of Six Degrees of Separation, Of Mice and Men, and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.

Malia Dawkins plays Monica. Her television and film credits include supporting roles on That’ So Raven, Miami Vice Uncensored!, and hosting roles on MTV Hits. Malia is also an accomplished dancer who garnered many awards for tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and African dances.

Marian Michaels is the mother. Her television and film credits include The Guild and Lady Magdalene's. A singer at heart, Marian's voice ranges from light and breezy for Radio and TV commercials to sincere and heartfelt for News and Information services.

Tamika Simpkins is Andrea. Her television and film credits include roles on The Shield, The Wire and Eye of the Tiger. Her theatrical credits include Black Women: State of the Union and her one-woman show, Inner Struggles.
